I am extremely disappointed by the lack of professionalism during my experience with this office. Because of elevated cholesterol and pre-diabetic lab results, my primary care physician referred me to Dr. Lewis specifically so I could have appropriate cardiac testing performed and better understand my cardiovascular risk.
My reason for seeking the testing was very straightforward: **I wanted to determine whether there was any evidence of plaque/clogged arteries and better understand whether my elevated cholesterol numbers could have a hereditary/genetic component.** Instead of explaining whether the requested testing was medically appropriate—or clearly explaining **why they were declining to perform or order it**—I was essentially told that **“Dr. Lewis does not go by what other doctors request; he does his own thing.”**
During my visit, my blood pressure happened to be unusually low, something I had never experienced before, as my blood pressure has historically been normal. Somehow, this appeared to change the entire direction of the visit without anyone adequately explaining why.
I was then told I would need a **stress test costing $150 out of pocket because insurance would not cover it**, and the receptionist indicated that nothing else would be done. If there is a legitimate medical reason that the testing requested by my primary physician is inappropriate, I have no problem hearing that—but **the doctor should explain the reasoning, what alternative testing is appropriate, and how the recommended stress test addresses the concerns that brought me there in the first place.**
What concerned me most was that Dr. Lewis did not personally reach out to explain any of this. Important medical decisions and explanations should not simply be left to the receptionist. And i had to call back to get that information after 2 weeks of waiting.
Even more surprising was the comment that I should **“go to McDonald’s to get your blood pressure up.”** Considering that I had been referred because of elevated cholesterol and other cardiovascular risk concerns, I found that comment inappropriate and remarkably unprofessional.
Patients should be able to trust that their doctors will communicate with them, explain why a requested test is or is not appropriate, discuss reasonable alternatives, and work collaboratively with the referring physician.
Needless to say, I will not be returning. **If you cannot trust your doctor to communicate with you and you feel the office is working against you rather than with you in understanding your health, what could be more concerning as a patient?**

Dr. Lewis has very good bedside manners. He explain exactly what he looking for when he examines you. He is very thorough.

Dr. Lewis is a really good doctor. He listens and takes his time. His office staff are the best. They answer the phone and call you back which is unheard of today.

My experience with the physical was SUPER good! She questioned, give advice and FOLLOW UP. I LIKE that , she cares about her patients and her profession. Thank God for caring people!
